First Aid Training By Sustain
Since 2008, Sustain Ltd has provided accredited First Aid at Work training to a range of clients throughout the UK, helping them to meet their obligations for the provision of adequate and appropriate first aid in the workplace.
Our training approach is practical, skills centred and aimed at equipping those we train with the skills to manage a range of potential workplace injuries and medical conditions.
We offer the full range of First Aid at Work training, accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) and certified for 3 years upon completion.
First Aid at Work (3 Day)
This 3 day course is suitable for larger employers or higher risk environments and involves a practical and written assessment on day 3 to test competency in CPR, blood loss and management of unconscious casualties, supervised by an assessor other than the course trainer.
The course syllabus includes:

Legislation & record keeping

Recognition & assessment of vital signs

Management of the unconscious casualty

Airway blockages and choking
-
Non-breathing casualties, CPR & defibrillation

Control of blood loss and wounds
-
Recognition & treatment of shock
-
Major injury including eye injury, burns, fracture, dislocation and spinal injury

Responsibilities and management relating to common medical conditions
First Aid at Work Refresher (2 Day)
A 2 day refresher course is available for certificate holders wishing to extend their First Aid at Work qualification for a further 3 years.
The course refreshes the topics covered in the 3 day course, and includes the associated practical and written assessment.
This course is available only for those with existing first aid qualification within the original 3 year certification.
Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day)
This 1 day course is suitable for smaller employers, lower risk work environments and those who do not require the full 3 day syllabus.
The course is assessed by the course trainer on the day, based upon the practical skills demonstrated by those attending, and comprises condensed aspects of the 3 day syllabus.

CPR & Defibrillator Training
This training focuses upon the management of non-breathing casualties and includes CPR and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
It is suitable for employers or organisations with an onsite AED, or as an annual skills refresher for those holding First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
Upon successful completion, the course is certified for 3 years by Sustain Ltd.
Sports/Outdoor First Aid
In addition to FAIB accredited First Aid at Work, Sustain Ltd provides first aid training to a range of sporting organisations.
1 and 2 day courses are available for sports and outdoor groups, which focus upon specific first aid issues related to these activities.
We have delivered courses for groups including kayaking clubs, boxing and mma gyms, adventure racing, football clubs and karting tracks, with elements bespoke to their individual environments and consistent with governing body or insurance requirements.
The training is certified for 3 years by Sustain Ltd.
